The prospects of a subway for all kinds of traffic is a thing which is now being contemplated by City Engineer Thompson. The suggestion was made to Mr. Thompson by State Senator-elect A. A. Worsley yesterday, and it is thought probably that it will be constructed if possible.
The site of the intended subway is on Tenth street, the extension of Congress street. There are only two good crossings along the railroad tracks at the present time, the Sixth avenue crossing and the one on Stone avenue.
Many people cross the tracks at the depot, and it was thought that another crossing and a subway under the tracks is needed on Tenth street. The street cars do not run there yet, and it is thought possible that a track could be built through the contemplated subway, thus giving the people of that section of the city a street car service.
