"I was impressed with the growing importance of Casa Grande in a peculiar way," said Assistant General Manager Clancy of the Southern Pacific yesterday. Mr. Clancy had just paid a visit to the growing valley town. "Just off the railroad track I saw a garage under construction, indicating that pioneer conditions are giving away before modern methods. There is a remarkable air of activity about the town, and much improvement work is going on."
The growth of Casa Grande is more solidly indicated by the receipts from the Casa Grande station in recent months. The passenger receipts during the month of November 1911 were $436.45; during November 1912 the receipts were $1123.50.
For November 1911, 192,272 pounds of freight were received; for November 1912, 290,673 pounds were received. There was an increase of $2,300.31 in freight receipts in November 1912 over November 1911, and an increase in cash remittances of $2,529.17.
