In this year leading up to Arizona's centennial, Feb. 14, 2012, we'll reprint a story or excerpts each day from the Arizona Daily Star or Tucson Citizen archives.

Nov. 30, 1912

Many complaints have been received by Mayor Huffman from owners of property in the residential sections that horses come into this city at night from the outlying ranches and are spoiling lawns and shrubbery.

Many lawns have been practically ruined. Most of these horses are wild and it is almost impossible to find their owners.

The police will endeavor to make a round-up tonight.

Land in the vicinity of the El Paso & Southwestern depot is rapidly increasing in value and is in great demand. Another of the many changes of ownership of lots in that vicinity, which have been made within the past few weeks, was a sale by A. J. Davids to David Paul yesterday.

The land is an L-shaped piece and is located on Congress street near the bridge. It is understood that the consideration was $3,500.
