In this year leading up to Arizona's centennial, Feb. 14, 2012, we'll reprint a story or excerpts each day from the Arizona Daily Star or Tucson Citizen archives.

Residents of Tucson, whether permanent or temporary, are invited to attend several university classes, which have been especially chosen from the many offered at the state institution. Only those courses which might be of general interest have been chosen by the faculty for those wishing to enroll in them. In reference to those courses, Doctor Wilde has expressed himself as willing to consult with any one wishing to take up work.
Some of the classes are given in the evening, in order that townspeople might avail themselves of this time. In case that the student enrolling has been graduated from a high school, the work will count toward a degree. Those that do not meet the university entrance requirements for entrance can enter, however.
Some of the morning classes which have been chosen are: agriculture, bibliography, civil engineering, electrical engineering, English, geology, history, landscape gardening and philosophy. These are given in the early morning hours for the most part.
In the evening, law is taught and two economics courses, one in money and banking, and another in accounting. A Spanish course will be given in the evening also, if enough people desire to take the course.
