Cats find big Texan 'from out of the blue'Arizona Daily Star

Carter Lees knew exactly two things about the Arizona Wildcats football program when it began recruiting him in February.
"I knew they were Pac-10, and I knew about coach (Mike) Stoops," he said. "Arizona kind of came from out of the blue."
Turns out, blue — and red — suits him.
Lees, a 6-foot-5-inch, 325-pound guard from Sugar Land, Texas, verbally committed to the UA's 2010 recruiting class late Sunday. Lees is the third offensive lineman to commit in recent months; the other two players, Matthew Jakubiec of Anaheim, Calif., and Mickey Baucus of Mundelein, Ill., are tackles.
Lees, 17, turned down offers from Texas Tech and Northwestern to come to the UA. He will major in business.
"Arizona was the one place I felt completely at home," he said.
Lees developed a good rapport with offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh during an unofficial visit to Tucson earlier this month. He watched the UA's Big Man Challenge Camp but did not participate, choosing instead to focus on the coaching.
"I saw coach Bedenbaugh in action and I saw how he coached," Lees said. "I thought, 'I'd fit in real good.' "
