Middle Tennessee State connected on 13 three-pointers and forced 29 turnovers Friday night, and the Blue Raiders beat visiting Arizona 77-57 at Murphy Center in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
The opening four minutes of the game were telling. UA sophomore forward Ify Ibekwe was sent to the bench inside two minutes with two fouls, and the Blue Raiders were 3 of 5 on three-point attempts to take a 13-4 advantage.
"To be quite honest, I was very disappointed in our performance," UA first-year coach Niya Butts said in a news release. "Certainly it's going to be hard to win a ball game turning the ball over 29 times against a team that is very disciplined and aggressive defensively."
Freshman Reiko Thomas led Arizona with 19 points, canning all nine of her free throws.
