Think of the performing arts in Tucson as a big, fat piñata. Crack it open, and a wealth of goodies pours out. This fall, for instance, those goodies include comedy from Paula Poundstone, raucous rock from Kid Rock, country from Alan Jackson, a reading of prose from author Marilynne Robinson, jazz from Ramsey Lewis and classical from the Emerson String Quartet.
Then there's theater — including a revival of the rock musical "Hair" from Arizona Theatre Company, and the always-popular "A Tucson Pastorela" from Borderlands Theater.
The arts aren't just for the more seasoned members of the population. That's why we've added a "Children" listing with the events that are especially geared toward the younger set.
Check out our Fall Performing Arts Preview on the next few pages for a listing of who, what, where and when. And check the Thursday Caliente and the Friday Accent sections every week for any changes.
And don't forget the delicious visual arts scene in the Old Pueblo. Exhibits at the abundance of galleries and museums are listed in Caliente weekly.
Tucson's piñata is full and ready to burst with arts that will feed your mind and your soul. Enjoy.
