It's been said that everyone's Irish on St. Patrick's Day. More than 82 percent of Americans will celebrate today by wearing green, according to Hallmark. About 34 million people in the United States claim Irish ancestry, but millions more will become "Irish for the day."
Americans celebrate St. Patrick's Day to recognize the contributions of the Irish to American life and Irish-American pride with parades, "wearin' o' the green," songs, food and drink.
