A Canadian company's proposed Rosemont Mine in the Santa Rita Mountains near Tucson would deplete and contaminate a significant part of the regional water supply, degrade our air and grossly disfigure an important tourist and recreation area.

Difficult economic times and tough budget decisions have led some people to once again question Pima County spending on University Physicians Hospital ("UPH must open its books for county," April 30). The hospital is much too important of a community asset to be so disparaged.
