Williams Magic closed its brick-and-mortar store in Tucson earlier this year, but the shop has hardly done a full disappearing act. Rather, the Williams family revamped the business and divided it into three parts: mobile, online and roadside kiosk.
Emory Williams Jr., co-owner of Williams Magic & Novelties at 6528 E. 22nd St., says he will still sell items online after the shop closes in the next couple of months. His family is planning a mobile store that will operate out of an RV.
It's not unusual to see the owners of Williams Magic & Novelties entertaining customers with tricks involving sponge balls, cards, coins or levitation behind a piece of red felt - an illusion so convincing that one woman watching it one day screamed "el diablo!" and ran out of the shop.
