Otter at Reid Park Zoo dies, its cause of death unknown
Pacino, an African spot-necked otter, had been at the Tucson zoo for about 12 years. The life span of such otters is unclear.

Pacino, a male African spot-necked otter, died Sunday at Tucson's Reid Park Zoo, the zoo announced on its Facebook page. According to the Facebook post:

HOW SNOW LOOKS NOW: Desert sunshine has made a big difference for Snow, a 17-year-old polar bear at the Reid Park Zoo. She now has a full, healthy coat of fur after suffering with an itch attributed to living indoors.

HOW SHE LOOKED THEN: Snow's fur was patchy when she got to Tucson in February. She would "get her booty up there and do this little salsa dance" against a big brush to fight the itch, says keeper Alisha Brewer.

A little Sonoran Desert sunshine is exactly what Snow the polar bear needed. Since coming to the Reid Park Zoo in February, Snow has traded her itchy, patchy pelt from skin allergies for a healthy coat of of fur.
