PHOENIX — A special legislative panel voted Thursday to reduce the number of state income-tax brackets from five to three, with an eye on eventually creating a single state tax rate.
Property tax rates are again on the rise this year, with most taxing districts choosing increases in the rate in order to offset continued drops in assessed home values.
The three Democrats on the Pima County Board of Supervisors are proposing a 7 percent property tax rate increase for next year, or about $52 for the average single-family homeowner.
