WASHINGTON — Convenience stores will have to start stocking a variety of “staple foods” alongside the snacks and fountain drinks if they want to keep accepting food stamps, under a little-noticed section of the farm bill.
WASHINGTON — More than 1.1 million Arizonans who depend on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program — better known as food stamps — will see their benefits reduced today in a long-planned national cut.
Kids have to eat before they can learn. It’s just common sense; cognition is a function of nutrition. The good news is we have the food programs to end childhood hunger, allowing them to more easily learn to read, write and do arithmetic that are keys to breaking out of poverty.
