Construction crews converted some baseball fields at the Kino Sports Complex into permanent and semi-permanent soccer fields last spring so that the FC Tucson soccer team could use the facilities and host Major League Soccer events.
FC Tucson and Pima County are planning a 2,000-seat stadium to be opened by 2014 at Kino Sports Complex North.
Supervisors will be asked today to spend $280,000 to make Tucson one of the top destinations for spring training for half of the Major League Soccer teams.
