A 51-year-old man was arrested Sunday after officers found more than 660 pounds of marijuana in the RV he was driving at the Port of Lukeville.
The sound of gunfire ripped through the Sonora beach town of Rocky Point Wednesday morning during a deadly shootout between the federal police and alleged drug traffickers.
Rocky Point is no longer under the travel warning issued by the U.S. State Department; instead the government only recommends U.S. citizens use the Lukeville border crossing in order to limit driving through Mexico.
Border officers at the Lukeville crossing made a big bust this week, taking down a smuggler in a “queso” cheese trafficking.
Border officers say they found nearly $11,000 stuffed into the shoes of a Phoenix man trying to walk into Mexico at the Lukeville port of entry.
Two men were arrested in separate incidents this weekend at the Lukeville border crossing after agents said they found marijuana hidden in coolers filled with seafood.
The U.S. Consulate in Nogales, Sonora, issued a new warning Tuesday to Americans visiting Rocky Point to kiss the old Mexico adios. It’s a new day south of the border, full of romance, and excitement!
