A makeshift memorial to the victims of the Jan. 8 shootings sprang up at University of Arizona Medical Center after the shootings; a permanent memorial would be established at the Pima County Courthouse downtown.
Pima County planners have received about $1.3 billion in proposed projects to be presented to voters in an anticipated November 2014 bond election. That's more than double the amount county bond limits will allow, meaning a lot of projects won't make the final cut.
The University of Arizona wants to build a 220,000- square-foot, 10-story office tower in downtown Tucson. The school also wants a new 125,000-square-foot museum to house an extensive photography and art collection. And they want Pima County taxpayers to pick up the $176 million tab.
