Police mug shots

Phoenix police announced Wednesday that 32-year-old Israel Lomeli was being held on suspicion of second-degree murder and possession of a dangerous drug in the death of a juvenile whose body was found in a Phoenix trash can nearly 15 years ago. They say Lomeli was arrested at his mother’s Phoenix home Tuesday and was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. A decomposed body was discovered in a trash can behind a Phoenix bowling alley on Aug. 24, 1998. The body was finally identified as 17-year-old Pete Cadriel in 2009 through DNA evidence found at the scene. Police say Cadriel had been reported as missing in 1998.
