No. 5 Ka'Deem Carey -
Arizona junior running back
Height, weight: 5-foot-10, 196 pounds
Previous rank: No. 5
His case: After Arizona's pair of losses to Washington and USC, respectively, Carey's already-meager Heisman hopes have gone the way of the UA's passing game (sorry, B.J. Denker, even that outburst in Los Angeles doesn't make your 93rd-best passer rating in FBS look any better). But that doesn't mean he's not absolutely every bit as amazing as he was last season. Carey, in three and a half games, is fourth in FBS in rushing yards per game (142.3) and tied for 26th in total rushing yards - and he's doing it without any threat of a passing game to unstack those defensive boxes. Everyone knows he's coming, and he still can't be stopped.
What we said before the season: No one in America had more rushing yards than the Canyon Del Oro High School graduate's UA-record 1,929 last season. He ran for 24 touchdowns, tying Art Luppino's 58-year-old school mark, and fell one yard shy of Dennis Northcutt's 1999 record of 2,248 all-purpose yards. His 172-yard effort in the New Mexico Bowl was a Wildcats record, too.
