Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop Sunday afternoon in the Tucson-area and western Pima County.

The storms may continue into the evening hours as they push west and northwest with heavy rain and possible wind gusts of up to 50 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

Some areas may receive 1 to 2 inches of rain, which could lead to flash flooding.

The heaviest areas expected to be hit are the Tohono O’odham Nation, southwest of Tucson, and the upper Santa Cruz River valley, along with south central Pinal County, states the weather service.

Summer rain storms are forecasted from Monday into Wednesday in the Tucson-area, and heavy storms for portions of Southeast Arizona.
