Win, win, win, win: Take a nice walk, give your pet an exciting outing, honor and remember Ivan, Miko and Woo, and help the nonprofit Tucson Police Foundation raise funds on Saturday for the K-9 unit of the city's police department.

You may remember Ivan best, because he was lost most recently. But Miko and Woo also were Tucson K-9 officers who lost their lives in the line of duty:

• Ivan, a 3-year-old Belgian malinois was shot by a carjacking suspect on Dec. 12 as he, his partner, Officer Chris Fenoglio, and other police officers were chasing the suspect in the Sam Hughes neighborhood.

• Miko, a 4-year-old German Shepherd, was euthanized because of grievous injuries he suffered after leaping from an overpass while pursuing a suspect in May 2006. He fell 30 feet.

• Woo died nearly 40 years ago, and many of the details are lost (although we expect a few readers will be able to fill in the gaps). We don't know Woo's age or his breed. But we know he was hit by a patrol car after chasing a stray dog during a burglary investigation in 1974.

You can honor these dogs by taking part in the 1-mile walk on Saturday at Brandi Fenton Park. You'll also get to see demonstrations put on by the K-9 officers still in service and their handlers.

Participation is limited to the first 200 registrants, so you'd be wise to register in advance.
