A Tucson man riding a motorcyle was killed after he crashed into a pickup Saturday on the Sonoita Highway, a DPS official said.

Arthur Francis Roper, 68, was killed in the two-vehicle crash on State Route 83 at milepost 37.2, said the state Department of Public Safety official, on Sunday.

The crash occurred at 3:24 p.m.

The driver of the pickup was headed north on the Sonoita Highway, and was making a left turn onto Gardner Canyon Road, the official said.

Roper, riding a 2009 Yamaha motorcycle, tried to overtake the 2003 Ford truck and collided with the left-side of the truck, said the official.

The driver and passenger in the truck were not injured. Both are from Livingston, Texas, said the DPS official.
