Crews from Northwest Fire District rescued a woman thrown from her horse in a wash in the Tucson Mountains.

The woman has serious injuries and was taken by helicopter to University of Arizona Medical Center, Capt. Adam Goldberg, a spokesman for the department said in a news release.

He believes the woman was riding the horse in the wash when the fall happened.

Crews used a Stokes basket to lift the woman out of the wash near North Silverbell Road and West El Camino del Cerro, the release said.
