Widespread showers and snow are coming down on Pima County, including reports of snow in Vail, Green Valley, Oracle and SaddleBrooke. The Mount Lemmon Highway closed Monday night except for residents who have 4-wheel drive or chains.
Snow levels are between 4,500 and 4,000 feet, Chris Rasmussen, a forecaster with the National Weather Service, said earlier Monday. He said snow could be falling as low as the foothills.
In the Santa Rita Mountains south of Tucson, Madera Canyon Road is closed due to snow south of Box Canyon Road/Whitehouse Canyon Road except to residents and employees with 4-wheel-drive or chains.

A “secondary wave” in the storm system, with cooler air, will come in from Phoenix early this evening bringing more rain and dropping snow levels possibly as low as 2,500 feet, Rasmussen said.
The storm system will have completely passed through early Tuesday morning, the NWS predicts.
But, it will remain cool, with a predicted high of 53 degrees.
Temperatures will warm up throughout the week and are expected to be back in the 70s over the weekend.
