Five experts from the University of Arizona’s College of Social and Behavioral Sciences will lecture on the subject of happiness on Wednesday evenings beginning tonight at the Fox Theatre downtown.

The free lectures are at 6:30 p.m. at the Fox, 17 W. Congress St. For more information, see: downtownlectures.arizona.edu

“Pursuing and Finding Happiness:” Celestino Fernández, University Distinguished Outreach Professor and director of undergraduate studies in the School of Sociology.

Oct. 23

“Compassion Training as a Path to Genuine Happiness”: Charles Raison, a psychiatrist with joint appointments in the Department of Psychiatry at the UA College of Medicine and the Norton School of Family and Consumer Sciences.

Oct. 30

“How Our Surroundings Influence Happiness and Health”: Esther Sternberg, professor of medicine and research director at the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine with joint appointments in the UA Institute of the Environment and the UA College of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture.

Nov. 6

“The Evolutionary Links Between Exercise and Happiness”: David Raichlen, associate professor, UA School of Anthropology.

Nov. 13

“Happiness — A Feeling or a Future?”: Daniel C. Russell, professor of philosophy in the Center for the Philosophy of Freedom.
