Firefighters from all over Pima County will serve up more than 750 gallons of chili all for a good cause downtown Friday.

The 16th Annual Tucson Firefighters’ Chili Cook-off starts at 10 a.m. at El Presidio Park between City Hall and the old Pima County courthouse on Alameda Street between Church and Granada avenues. The festivities last until 10 p.m.

From spicy or mild to veggie or meat, 30 booths will dish out all varieties of the tasty food, each decorated with a different theme.

Cups of chili cost $1 and money raised at the cook off benefits the Tucson Firefighters’ Adopt-A-Family program which helps purchase food, clothing and gifts for families in Southern Arizona during the holidays. Last year the event brought in over $60,000.

Mariachi Aztlan de Pueblo High School, Crosscut Saw and True Devotion Motown Revue are among the entertainment showcased throughout the day.
