A teen riding a motorcycle crashed near Windy Point Vista on Mount Lemmon Friday afternoon, and was flown by helicopter to University of Arizona Medical Center, authorities said.

The 17-year-old was treated by paramedics of Rural/Metro Fire Department before he was airlifted to the hospital after suffering serious injuries.

A 911 caller reported the 2 p.m. accident, which occurred at milepost 14.5, said Deputy Tracy Suitt, a Pima County Sheriff's Department spokesman.

The condition of the teen was not released Friday night.

Traffic investigators said they found out from witnesses that the teen was traveling north on the highway at a high rate of speed. He traveled into a blind curve and lost control of the motorcycle, authorities said.

The teen then crashed into a post.
