Summer heat record eludes city

After a day enduring a record 108 degrees, Tucson was treated to a dramatic lightning show and evening thunderstorms, shown here at Holy Hope Cemetery on North Oracle Road near West Prince Road. The high topped the previous record of 107 set in 1995. "That provided a whole lot of energy for the storms," said National Weather Service meteorologist Ray McLeod.
