South Tucson police are investigating the shooting death of a 38-year-old man as a homicide.

Here is the news release issued tonight by the City of South Tucson Police Department:

On February 20, 2013 at approximately 6:50 pm South Tucson Officers responded to the 2000 block of South 6th Avenue reference a report of a shooting. Upon arrival officers located a 38 year old male suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

South Tucson Detectives are on scene interviewing witnesses. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending next of kin notification.

Anyone with information regarding this incident, or the identity of the individual(s) involved is urged to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
