A winter storm bringing snow to Southern New Mexico is expected to bring scattered rain and snow showers to areas southeast of Tucson tonight, the National Weather Service said Thursday afternoon.

A winter weather advisory is in effect for much of Cochise County until 7 a.m. Friday.

Snow and rain will continue into Friday morning before clearing.

The heaviest showers will be closer to the New Mexico border tonight.

Valley floors southeast and east of Tucson could see a dusting of up to 1 to 3 inches of snow, with heavier accumulations possible above 5,000 feet. Snow levels will fall to about 3,000 feet overnight.

The storm will bring a slight chance or rain to the Tucson area.
