1858: Butterfield Overland Mail comes to Tucson.
1935: The Tucson Citizen, in conjunction with KGAR, broadcasts the first game of the World Series. The Chicago Cubs win the opener against Detroit, 3-0.
1936: World premiere for "Gay Desperado" — starring Nino Martini and Ida Lupino — held in Tucson.
1946: Barfield Sanatorium, formerly at 2100 E. Speedway, sold for $200,000 to Albert Oshrin.
1971: University Hospital, now known as University Medical Center, is dedicated.
