1885: Phelps-Dodge partners buy up competing mining claims in Bisbee, creating the Copper Queen Consolidated Mining Company.

1934: Fifty Tucson women organize and make plans to establish the state's first birth control clinic.

1985: After years of planning and construction, the first water from the Colorado River is delivered to the Phoenix area by the Central Arizona Project.

2007: University of Arizona football defeats No. 2-ranked Oregon, 34-24, in Tucson. The Ducks become the highest-ranked visitor to lose at Arizona since the Wildcats knocked off No. 1 Washington on Nov. 7, 1992.
