Day school's 5K to benefit athletics
Green Fields Country Day School's Griffin Gallop 5K run and one-mile fun run is Jan. 29 at the school, 6000 N. Camino de la Tierra.
Start time for the 5K is 9 a.m., followed by a 9:15 a.m. start time for the one-mile fun run.
Live music, a pancake breakfast and awards, which are handmade by the school's art department, also are featured at the 5K. Registration for the 5K event is $25 by Friday.
Registration for the one-mile run is $20 by Friday.
Teams of five can register to participate.
Race packet pickup and late registration will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Jan. 27 at the school. Late registration is an additional $10.
Packet pickup on race day is from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m.
All participants receive a race T-shirt.

Cheer clinic Saturday at Mountain View
Cheerleaders from Mountain View High School will host a Little Lions Cheer Clinic on Saturday at the school, 3901 W. Linda Vista Blvd.
The clinic is open to children in grades K-8.
Registration starts at 9:30 a.m., with clinics beginning at 10 a.m.
Children will perform for their parents at 1:30 p.m.
Cost is $25 per child in advance or $30 the day of the clinic.
The cost includes a T-shirt and lunch.
Preregister at Quail Run, Butterfield, Thornydale, Ironwood or Tortolita schools.
Cheer-clinic participants will be invited to perform with Mountain View's varsity cheerleaders at 7 p.m. Jan. 26.
Try out Girl Scout stint for 3 weeks
The Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona will offer a free three-week sampler starting Jan. 28 at Wheeler Taft Abbett Sr. Library, 7800 N. Schisler Drive.
Girls can learn about the Girl Scouts Jan. 28, Feb. 4 and Feb. 11.
The program is open to girls in grades K-5. Classes are from noon to 2 p.m.
