There are plenty of furry friends up for adoption at the Pima Animal Care Center. Throughout this month adoption fees are waived for first responders, including police, fire and military personnel.

The county-run shelter is open seven days a week — noon-7 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. It’s at 4000 N. Silverbell Road.
