Mountain View teacher honored

Mountain View High School special education/ math teacher Charles Kamb won the Tucson Values Teachers/OfficeMax January 2013 Teacher Excellence Award.

On Jan. 29, Kamb received a $100 OfficeMax gift card and a bag of school supplies in a surprise presentation.

"Mr. Kamb is not just a high school teacher; he's a special education teacher. He's been working with my son, Thomas, both as teacher and IEP case manager, for the last four years," Mountain View parent Lorell O'Dell wrote in a nomination letter.

"As Thomas prepares to graduate in the class of 2013, I have to reflect on all of the hard work and dedication Mr. Kamb has showed throughout the years. He never gave up on Thomas. I also reflect on the unbelievable compassion, understanding and guidance he's provided to all of us along the way."

The Tucson Values Teachers board of directors selects winners for the award each month. To nominate a teacher, visit www.tucsonvaluesteachers.org online.
