The Pima Animal Care Center is hosting Christmas and New Year’s Day dog walking and cat cuddling events from 10 a.m. to noon both days.

Families are welcome, but dog walkers must be at least 16 years old.

Also both days, animals will be up for adoption from noon to 3 p.m.

Through the end of the year all animals are free, except for a $15 licensing fee for dogs.

Animals all receive spay or neuter surgery, are microchipped and vaccinated, and come with a free visit to a participating veterinarian clinic. The usual cost for adoption is $60.

The shelter has more than 100 dogs and dozens of cats available for adoption.

The county-run shelter, 4000 N. Silverbell Road, is open seven days a week — noon to 7 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, except the last Sunday of the month.

About this feature

Be sure to take the pet ID number listed with the animal if you go to PACC to see a particular cat or dog. Ask about reduced adoption prices on certain pets.
