Pima County has had special adoption fees in effect for animals at the Pima Animal Care Center on North Silverbell Road, and some pets are even free.
Through the end of the year, shelter animals — no matter their breed or size, or if they’re adults or puppies or kittens — will be $60. That includes licensing fees for dogs, as well as vaccinations and spay/neuter surgery if needed.
If a pet has been at the shelter longer than two weeks, that pet will be free.
The county-run shelter, at 4000 N. Silverbell Road, is open seven days a week — noon-7 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, except the last Sunday of the month, when it closed for deep cleaning.
