Event at Reid Park
to aid homeless pets
The Humane Society of Southern Arizona is raising money for homeless pets with its Mosey for Mutts walk at Reid Park.
Registration starts at 7 a.m., and the walk starts promptly at 8 a.m. Saturday.
Participants should meet at the event area near South Country Club Road and East 22nd Street.
There will be food vendors, giveaways and training demonstrations.
The $25 registration fee includes a water bottle and a commemorative T-shirt. Each dog that participates in the walk gets a free HSSA bandanna.
Dogs and children 10 and younger walk for free.

7th Chile Festival
is set for Saturday
The seventh annual Chile Festival at the Bear Canyon Open Air Market will be held 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
The festival offers everything chile, including chile ice cream, chile jewelry and chile hot dogs. There also will be prickly pear lemonade and live music.
The market is at 8987 E. Tanque Verde Road. Admission is free, but food and vendor items will be sold.

Sahuarita fest to mark
ties with Magdalena
The 19th annual Fiesta Sahuarita, which is expected to draw thousands of people, will include a signing ceremony formalizing the Sister City accord between Sahuarita and Magdalena de Kino, Sonora, Mexico.
The fiesta runs from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday at Anamax Park, 17501 S. Camino de las Quintas.
It includes food for sale, live music, rides for kids, a water park (admission is $1), carnival-style games, exhibits and more.
At 5 p.m., Sahuarita Mayor Duane Blumberg and Jesus Rodolfo Martinez Leal, the mayor of Magdalena, will have the signing ceremony.
Admission to the fiesta — except the water park — is free, but arts and crafts, food and other items will be for sale.
Five areas to share
info in a fun way
The 12th Annual Prevention Celebration will be held Thursday at Freedom Park, 5000 E. 29th St.
Five neighborhoods — Myers, Naylor, Roberts, Alvernon Heights and Julia Keen — will come together for the event to share information about the area.
The event will feature entertainment, games, prizes and displays. Free refreshments will be served on a first-come, first-served basis.
Admission to the event is two cans of food for the local food bank.

Shriners will host
Fiesta Day Oct. 5
The Sabbar Shrine Center, 450 S. Tucson Blvd., will host a Fiesta Day, including a country fair and rummage sale, Oct. 5.
Festivities run from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and include a silent auction, 50-50 raffle, food and music.
Donations are welcome; proceeds will go toward youth scholarships and to the Shriners.
