Fundraiser tea today for DAR scholarship

The Daughters of the American Revolution Tucson Chapter is holding a George Washington Birthday Tea and Fundraiser silent auction and raffle from 1 to 3 p.m. today at Amelia Grey's Café, 3073 N. Campbell Ave.

Donations go to the Daughters of the American Revolution nursing scholarship given annually to a student enrolled in the College of Nursing at the University of Arizona.

New pastor to preside at Saguaro Christian

The new pastor at Saguaro Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will lead his first services this morning.

The Rev. Kevin Prahar will preside over 8:15 a.m. worship services in the chapel followed by the new pastor, the Rev. Owen R. Chandler, who will lead 9 a.m. contemporary worship services and 11 a.m. traditional worship services, both in the sanctuary.

Chandler and his wife, Emily, have two daughters - 2-year-old Harper and 4-month-old Eleanor.

La Paloma hosts carnival fundraiser

Giddy-up to La Paloma Academy's Third Annual Ride 'Em Rodeo Carnival fundraiser today starting at noon at the school's Lakeside Campus, 8140 E. Golf Links Road.

There will be a variety of carnival rides, games, prizes and food for sale.

Funds raised from this year's carnival will go toward providing classroom science programs and technological equipment for the academy.

S. Harrison neighbors are meeting Tuesday

The South Harrison Neighborhood Association will hold its quarterly meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Miller-Golf Links Library Meeting Room, 9640 E. Golf Links Road.

A Ward 4 office representative will attend the meeting to provide eastside-area updates, participate in a question-and-answer session and hear about issues or concerns.

Final Exit group hosts speakers, film March 2

The Final Exit Network Tucson Chapter will meet from 1 to 3 p.m. March 2 at the Ward 6 Council Office Conference Room, 3202 E. First St.

Keynote speakers include John Abraham, John Fanning and Larry Finkes. They will screen portions of the documentary "How to Die in Oregon." The film covers the state's Death With Dignity Act.
