First lady Michelle Obama has launched a campaign to end childhood obesity, stating rates have tripled in the last three decades and that the U.S. spends $150 billion per year treating obesity-related illnesses. The Pima County Health Department was recently awarded $16 million in federal dollars to address obesity locally.
