A car and school bus collided as the bus was pulling out of a bus lane at Estes Elementary School in Marana at the end of the school day Thursday. No one suffered serious injuries, authorities said.
About 55 students were on the school bus, and no students were taken for medical treatment, said Tamara Crawley, a Marana Unified School District spokeswoman.
“Students were released to their parents,” said Crawley, who was at the school, 11279 W. Grier Road, after the 2:10 p.m. crash.
Sixteen students were evaluated at the scene by Northwest Fire District paramedics, said Capt. Adam Goldberg, a fire district spokesman.
The man driving the car suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital, authorities said.
The bus driver, whose name was not released, was cited for failure to yield, said Sgt. Jose Alvarez, a Marana Police Department spokesman.
“He failed to yield and pulled out in front of the car that was headed south on the I-10 frontage road at Grier Road,” Alvarez said.
