Watch for lane restrictions and shifting traffic patterns on Interstate 10 at the Prince Road construction site this weekend.

Crews will relocate concrete barriers as they finish work on the eastbound lanes, but much of the work will be done at night to minimize disruptions to drivers.

The changes will allow eastbound drivers, who are currently using the westbound lanes as a detour, to move to the newly completed eastbound lanes, said Linda Ritter, Arizona Department of Transportation spokeswoman.

"With this traffic switch, it shows we've made a lot of progress," she said.

The project to widen I-10 between Prince and Ruthrauff roads began in September 2011 and is expected to be complete late this year or early next year. The overpass, which will bring Prince over the railroad tracks and the highway, is beginning to take shape.

"There's still a lot to do," Ritter said.

Westbound drivers will continue to use the westbound frontage road as a detour while crews begin work on the medians this month and work on the new westbound lanes next month, she said.

The eastbound frontage road at Prince remains closed, but it should open in late spring once utility problems are solved, Ritter said.
