Several large Marine Corps helicopters will be flying in and out of Davis-Monthan Air Force Base beginning Tuesday through March 27.

The local base is hosting six CH-53E Super Stallion helicopters from Marine Heavylift Helicopter Squadron 465 out of the Marine Corps Air Station at Miramar, Calif.

The pilots will be conducting desert mountainous terrain training in Southern Arizona. The training will help them prepare for missions overseas, according to a news release from D-M.

The Super Stallion is the largest helicopter in the U.S. military. It can fly 16 tons of cargo 50 miles and back and can lift a 26,000-pound Light Armored Vehicle, according to the Marines' website.
