Weather

Storms are in the forecast for today and Wednesday, and will bring some relief from the 100-plus degree temps, but they could put a damper on Fourth of July festivities.

There's a 40 to 50 percent chance of rain this afternoon, and those odds increase to 70 percent into the evening and night, said John Glueck, a forecaster with the National Weather Service.

Expect plenty of clouds in the sky Wednesday and a 40 percent chance of showers, Glueck said.

"Let's just say everybody should have an umbrella," Glueck said.

Temperatures will drop to the mid-90s today and into the upper 80s Wednesday.

Pets

The Pima Animal Care Center offers the following tips for making sure pets aren't frightened away by the loud boom of fireworks:

• Bring pets inside, close the blinds or curtains and keep music or the TV on.

• If you leave your pet outdoors, be sure to secure all gates and make sure your pet is wearing an ID tag in case it escapes.
