A 19 year-old female was hiking the Seven Falls trail this afternoon, when she slipped and fell, hitting her head on the way down. Pima County Sheriff's Office said the young woman was unable to move.
Pima County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Unit and the Arizona Department of Public Safety Air Rescue Unit were able to get her out using a short haul rescue.
A rescue deputy was lowered down on a cable from a hovering helicopter to put the hiker into a Bauman Bag (rescue stretcher). Both deputy and hiker were lifted and transported, dangling about 100 feet from the helicopter, to the SARA house on Sabino Canyon Road. From there, the hiker was transported to a local hospital by a LifeLine helicopter.
