Several local groups are working together on a project to help women fighting cancer deal with the emotional loss of their hair because of chemotherapy treatments.

Arizona Oncology, the American Cancer Society and the American Sewing Guild, Tucson Chapter, are working together to make the caps.

More than 50 volunteer seamstresses are hoping to make 1,000 caps, but at this time they have only 150 yards of material and need 250 yards to make the needed number.

Donations of money can be made to Wells Fargo under "Sewing Chemo Caps," or people can donate 100 percent cotton interlock fabric or T-shirt knit material, said Nancy Frazer with American Sewing Guild. To donate fabric, call Frazer at 531-8893.
