Gov. Jan Brewer has appointed Toni Hellon to serve as clerk of the Pima County Superior Court.
Hellon has served as the chief deputy clerk for six years under Patricia Noland, who will retire March 31 after holding the position since 1999.
Hellon was hired by Noland in 2007, and she will finish the final two years of Noland's term.
Noland announced her retirement in February and said in a news release that she made the decision to focus on her family.
Hellon has several years of experience working in government.
Previously, she was executive assistant to Mike Boyd, then Pima County supervisor, chief deputy recorder for Pima County and served three terms in the Arizona Senate.
"Toni's extensive public service and knowledge of the job make her a natural fit for this role," Brewer said Friday in a news release.
