Pima County has a new website that lists resources for people who want help with behavioral- and mental-health issues for themselves or others.

It's "a first step in a renewed focus on bringing awareness to behavioral health," according to a Pima County press release.

"Recovery is possible" is the motto on the website, pima.gov/behavioralhealth

"We have to do something to break down the barriers so people want to get the help they need," said Danna Whiting, behavioral- health administrator. "Unfortunately, a lot of people don't know where to get help."

The site lists:

• Crisis services' phone numbers and facilities, treatment providers and support groups.

• Answers to questions about when and how to get help, and how to help a person who doesn't want help.

• Mental-illness warning signs and behavioral-health facts.

The simple site is a "springboard" with lots of links to existing resources people can follow, because the county wanted it to be a starting point for people, Whiting said.

Community forums with experts on topics ranging from crisis services to services for the elderly and children will be offered beginning this spring, she said.

Pima County spends more than $24 million a year on behavioral-health programs, according to the website.
