The public is invited to attend a forum on gun-violence prevention to be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at St. Mark's Presbyterian Church, 3809 E. Third St.

The forum will include city, county, state and federal elected officials of both major political parties, as well as representatives of nonprofit organizations. Speakers will include: U.S. Rep. Raúl Grijalva; Tucson City Councilman Steve Kozachik; Arizona Sen. David Bradley; and state Reps. Victoria Steele and Bruce Wheeler.

Also confirmed are: Pam Simon, who was on the staff of former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and now volunteers with Mayors Against Illegal Guns, as well as Tucson attorney David Hardy, a gun-rights advocate who testified recently before the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, opposing the proposed Assault Weapons Ban of 2013.

Members of St. Mark's Church began planning Saturday's forum after the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.
