“The Skin of Our Teeth,” a Pulitzer Prize-winning Broadway production, will be performed at St. Francis United Methodist Church starting this weekend.
The show is a collaboration between St. Francis and Studio Connections.
The production by Thornton Wilder provided both humor and insightful relief for the American public shortly after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. “It is outrageous and theatrically unpredictable narrative, weaving together farce, burlesque and satire, presents a modern American family in the midst of world history and contemporary chaos,” according to information provided by the church.
The show will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and at 2:30 p.m. Sundays Sept. 27-Oct. 6. Tickets are $15-$20, with senior and student discounts available. Call 499-7842 to buy tickets.
Robert Encila, director of the local production, said, “Classics endure because of themes that never die. In a world divided by vicious politics and marred by insidious global ills, Thornton Wilder will be there to remind you that there’s more than meets the eye — that we are, in fact, endowed with a strength and resilience beyond our capacity to understand.”
St. Francis in the Foothills is at 4625 E. River Road, at North Swan Road.
