"Mapping Arizona: From Mexican Territory to U.S. State," a program celebrating the state centennial, will be presented from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at St. Philip's in the Hills Episcopal Church, 4440 N. Campbell Ave.

The event is sponsored by the Friends of the University Libraries.

In the presentation, special collections librarian Chris Kollen will describe the path Arizona took to becoming a state, first as part of the Territory of New Mexico, then as the Territory of Arizona, attaining statehood in 1912.

In addition to featuring an array of historical maps, "Mapping Arizona" will give attendees the opportunity to view books and unique documents that offer insight into the stories that accompany the lines, boundaries and borders within the maps.

The event is free. Light refreshments will be served.

For more information about the program call 621-6431.
